CenterStage Theatre Company will be holding auditions for the musical Company with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by George Furth. This production will be directed by Nick Sugar. This is a teen/young adult production for actors ages 14-21. Rehearsals in February and March, performances in April 2022. While there is no fee to audition, there is a tuition fee for all actors cast in the production. See logistic rehearsal and performance information below.

COVID POLICIES
All actors must be fully vaccinated to participate in this production. Proof of vaccination status will be required before any in-person activity. Actors will remain masked during the rehearsal process based on guidance from Boulder County. CenterStage is a Vaccine Verified facility meaning all audience members need to show proof of vaccination and must remained masked while in our facility. Actors are allowed to be unmasked if they choose during performances.

Our audition form and materials submission are all included as part of a single Google Form. Before clicking on the button below, you will need the following:
1. All your current contact information. You will need parent/guardian contact information if you are under 18.
2. Your completed audition video ready for upload.
3. A list of all your rehearsal conflicts, if any.
4. OPTIONAL: Your picture and resume ready for upload.
5. OPTIONAL: A digital copy of your vax card. If you do not upload here, you will be required to show it at your first in-person activity.

AUDITION PREPARATIONActors are asked to prepare a one-minute monologue and 16-32 bars of a song. We are asking that videos be no more than 2 minutes if possible. You may sing a number from the show, but that is not required. We are also asking that everyone introduce themselves stating their full name and the name of the monologue/song to be performed. This should be very brief.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: JAn. 26We have extended our deadline for video audition submissions to the end of the day on Wednesday, January 26. If you would like to audition, but cannot make this deadline, please email us.
callbacks: Sun. Jan. 30, 4-8pmActors will be selected to attend an in-person callback on Sunday, January 30 from 4-8pm held at CenterStage. Actors who would like to be considered, but who cannot attend the callback, are encouraged to submit and let us know that you cannot make the callback. Some actors may be cast without attending the callback.

video recording tipsTips for best results on video auditions:
1. LIGHT: Make sure you have good light that is coming from in front of you to light your face. 2. BACKGROUND: Find a neutral background that is not distracting. 3. CAMERA QUALITY: Use the best phone/camera you have available. 4. HORIZONTAL POSITION: Video with your phone horizontal (not vertical). 5. CAMERA POSITION: If possible, your camera should be eye level. Please frame yourself in a medium shot which is from the waist up. 6. SOUND: Make sure you have good balance between your vocals and your musical tracks. Hearing your singing voice is the most important element of the sound. 7. PROOF YOUR VIDEO: Watch and listen to your video to ensure quality before submitting. |

On the night of his 35th birthday, confirmed bachelor, Bobby, contemplates his unmarried state. Over the course of a series of dinners, drinks and even a wedding, his friends explain the pros and cons of taking on a spouse. The habitually single Bobby is forced to question his adamant retention of bachelorhood during a hilarious array of interactions. Company features a brilliantly brisk and energetic score containing many of Stephen Sondheim's best-known songs – including “Company”, “Sorry-Grateful”, You Could Drive a Person Crazy”, "Getting Married Today”, “The Ladies Who Lunch”, and the iconic anthem “Being Alive”. Character Descriptions:
Robert, Male, Baritone, 30 – 40. The story's protagonist, a keen observer who appears to be happy. He is the only one in his circle still single. Terrified of marriage, but fears a lifetime of loneliness.
Sarah, Female, Alto, 30 – 40. Harry's hypercritical wife. She is an avid learner of karate and tends to overeat. Open, accepting, and loving.
Harry, Male, Baritone, 30 – 45. Sarah's husband. He is a recovering alcoholic. Believes the advantages of marriage outweigh the disadvantages.
Susan, Female, Mezzo, 25 – 35. A delicate southern belle. Peter's wife and ex-wife. Motherly in her affections towards Robert.
Peter, Male, Baritone, 25 – 35. Susan's husband. The perfect husband and ex-husband. He is very liberal in his view of relationships.
Jenny, Female, Soprano, 30 – 45. Quietly manipulative, simultaneously square and wise. Loves her husband, David, and will indulge him from time to time.
David, Male, Tenor, 30 – 45. Jenny's husband; relaxed and always in control. Believes a man should be married and that the sacrifice of freedom is worth what you get in return.
Amy, Female, Alto, 25 – 40. A frantic neurotic engaged to Paul but terrified of marriage. After a mental breakdown, she finally realizes that Paul is, in fact, her soulmate.
Paul, Male, Tenor, 25 – 40. Amy's fiancé. Patient with her neurotic nature. Fully commits to the idea of marriage and encourages Robert to do the same.
Joanne, Female, Alto, 45 – 65. Acerbic and demanding. Too old to be part of the young crowd but would not fit well with the older crowd. Puts on a brassy front that melts when she is alone with her husband,
Larry, Male, Tenor, 45 – 65. Joanne's husband. Stoic and centered, but has moments of goofiness. Indulges his wife's behavior but knows when to put his foot down.
Marta, Female, Mezzo, 25 – 35. A girlfriend of Robert's. Intensely modern, seeking adventure and excitement in the City.
Kathy, Female, Mezzo, 30 – 40. A former girlfriend of Robert's, now considered a good friend. She plans to leave the City for a life of domesticity. Sweet and loving.
