important information about our programs
HEALTH & SAFETY:
General Heath Policy: CSTC closely follows all policies, procedures and mandates from Boulder County regarding all current health conditions that might impact our student populations. Since there are no current restrictions in Boulder County, there are no vaccine or mask requirements at CSTC. However, we reserve the right to update our policies as the situation changes.
Masks: While masks are not required for rehearsals or performances, if there are any exposure events within the cast or staff, we may ask students to wear masks for rehearsals or performances. As such, we ask students to bring masks to all rehearsals.

CLASS/REHEARSAL LOGISTICS:
Winter/ Spring 2025 CSTC Holidays: This winter/ spring we are not closed for any national holidays, though we will not hold rehearsals or performances on Easter Sunday – Sun. April 20. We do know that some families may have plans for the long weekends over Martin Luther King or Presidents Day holidays as well as over their respective spring break holidays, but rehearsals will not be cancelled on these days unless there are a large number of students with conflicts.
Check Schedules: We expect some conflicts for rehearsals (see below), but double check your plans with our schedules before registering for a class – especially our technical and dress rehearsals and performances. We cannot offer refunds after classes have started and productions are cast.
Location: Unless otherwise noted all classes will be held in rooms at CenterStage Theatre Company, located at 901 South Front Street, Louisville, Colorado 80027. To accommodate other productions and rental events, CSTC reserves the right to move classes to a different room location if needed. Parents will be informed in advance of any change in facility location.
Registration Cancellation/ Refunds: We cannot offer credits, refunds or exchanges after the registration process, unless CenterStage makes the decision to cancel a program. We encourage parents to check content and schedules carefully before making final registration decisions.
Class Cancellations: If a class is canceled due to a teacher’s illness or inclement weather (or any other reason), parents will be notified immediately by email or phone. If scheduling allows, a make-up class will be offered at the convenience of the teacher and students.
Class/ Rehearsal Conflicts: We understand that students have busy lives and some conflicts during the rehearsal process are inevitable. Some conflicts early in the process can be accommodated. We try to schedule around actors’ conflicts as best as we are able, and work to only call students to rehearsals where their scenes are being worked so that we can most effectively use everyone's time. It is essential that wherever possible parents notify staff in advance regarding conflicts. We will have a conflict sheet for you to fill out at the beginning of the process. This ensures that other students are not adversely affected by these absences. In addition, we are asking any student feeling sick to be kept at home. Rehearsals are vital to the process to prepare students for the show and create lasting relationships with other students. Students missing excessive rehearsals for any reason (including illness) may be re-cast at the discretion of the instructor. This is done to ensure that those who are at rehearsal are not held back by someone's excessive absence. It should also be noted that extensive absence may result in the reduction or even elimination of a student's performance responsibilities. While every attempt will be made to keep the student involved with the production/performance, this is not always possible. The production of a play is a team effort. If one of the players is out, his or her position must be covered.
Called Rehearsals: This semester all rehearsals will be “called rehearsals”, meaning that actors will only be called during the specific times when their scenes or numbers are being rehearsed. Traditionally, we will have all actors called at the beginning and the end of the process, with select groups called in the middle of the schedule.

DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION:
Diversity and Inclusion: CSTC honors the spirit of diversity and inclusion. We believe that the theatre is a collaborative practice where differences only enhance the creative nature of what we do. We strive to embrace all marginalized populations in casting and engagement in our programs.
Gender: Wherever possible, we work to practice gender neutral casting - sometimes changing the original gender of the role to accommodate our cast. In addition, we are respectful of students who may identify as a certain gender regardless of their biological identity.

AUDITIONS and CASTING:
13 The Musical, Disney’s Descendants, Harry Potter 3 Auditions: These performance classes DO NOT REQUIRE AN AUDITION before enrollment. Auditions for individual roles take place during the first few classes. Roles are then assigned, and the rehearsal process follows. Unless you are notified differently, there is no specific preparation necessary for the initial auditions. Though all students are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the script or story of the play and the music. All students enrolled in the class will be guaranteed a part in the play.
Casting: At CenterStage we understand the complexities of casting students for performance. We take the process very seriously and work hard to ensure that all students are engaged by the collaborative effort needed to put on a play, and that every student finishes our production experience with a positive feeling. Our programs are designed to prepare young adults who will be excited about creating theatre and not overawed by the desire to be "the Star." Success in the theatre is most often a product of intense desire, great dedication, and willingness to participate in a collective, collaborative, and creative process. Parents should remember that there are no refunds OR credits of tuition - even if students are disappointed in their casting.
Double/Single Cast: Depending on the number of actors enrolled, we may double cast some or all roles. In these cases, performances will be split evenly between the two casts. Please note that if a show ends up with a single cast, we may eliminate some of the performances to ensure a robust audience for our students.
