WHY WE GATHER

The World We Want to Live In

More than four hundred young people take our stage every year. Some are naturals. A lot of them show up nervous. What they find is a place to try something new, get encouraged, and be seen for who they are. And most of them leave a little braver than they came.

That is what theatre does for kids. It builds confidence, helps them find their voice, and connects them to something bigger than themselves. And it does something for the rest of us too. It turns neighbors, families, and volunteers into a community that keeps showing up for a group of kids and the stories they tell.

That is why we gather. When you support Heart for the Arts, you belong to this community, and you help build the world we all want to live in.

Your impact
This Year Every Gift Has One Home
This year your generosity points in a single direction. Every dollar raised through Heart for the Arts goes to our Black Box Theatre, the intimate 70-seat space in downtown Louisville where some of our youngest performers take their first bow and our Tapestry actors of all abilities step into leading roles.

It is the place where a nervous kid becomes a cast member, where a first-time performer hears applause, where a family watches their child do something they never thought possible. When you give, you are not funding a line in a budget. You are protecting the one place where all of that happens, and making sure it is ready for the next child who walks through the door.

THE PROJECT

Help Us Finish the Black Box Renovation

A recent inspection brought updated safety codes, and with them a real to-do list: new stage doors and exits, upgraded electrical and fire systems, better ventilation, and a new stage curtain. The full project comes to $53,364. Our goal is simple, to finish the work and open our fall season right here at home. Every gift to Heart for the Arts gets us closer.
