Hadestown: Teen Edition is a full-length adaptation of Anaïs Mitchell’s Hadestown, modified for performance by teen actors for family audiences. This folk opera offers a theatrical experience featuring two intertwining love stories – Orpheus and Eurydice, and King Hades and Persephone. Hadestown takes audiences on a journey to the underworld and back. Inspired by classic American folk music and vintage New Orleans jazz, Mitchell's sung-through musical explores themes such as industry versus nature, doubt versus faith, and fear versus love.
Originally produced on Broadway by Mara Isaacs, Dale Franzen, Hunter Arnold and Tom Kirdahy.
Original New York Production developed with and directed by Rachel Chavkin.
Arrangements and Orchestrations by Michael Chorney and Todd Sickafoose.
